Jan Long Glass

I am a local glass artist making pictures and suncatchers from my studio in Breage. The method of stained glass work I use is copper-foiling, also referred to as “Tiffany”. This involves cutting the glass and wrapping with varying widths of copper foil before soldering the pieces to complete the piece. The solder may then be polished for a shiny silver finished or treated with a copper or black patina.

My pictures are framed in handmade wooden frames and are wall hanging or freestanding with matching wooden feet.

As an artist I am inspired by Cornwall’s big skies and the constantly changing colours of the ocean. I find using glass, selecting the right colours, textures and combinations, enables me to capture that sense of awe. Introducing pebbles adds another dimension to my work.
You can find me at Waves Artisan Market every Wednesday and at The Cowhouse Gallery, Perranuthnoe every Thursday morning. You can find my work 7 days a week at The Cowhouse Gallery and at Heather Jane & Co in St Ives, Looe and Fowey.
